Christians Against Poverty confirmed as Bronze Sponsor for 2019
3rd June, 2019
Cedarwood Festival and Christians Against Poverty (CAP) are excited to announce their new partnership for 2019 with CAP have becoming bronze sponsor for Cedarwood’s inaugural festival in July.
From the 5th to the 7th of July, the festival will bring people and churches of all ages and denominations throughout the North of England together for community, prayer and worship at County Durham’s Lambton Estate in Chester-le-Street.
CAP’s story began in 1996; Founder John Kirkby felt called to leave a career in finance behind to refocus his expertise on help those in poverty. Initially helping families in Bradford out of poverty, John realised his model could be replicated to assist people throughout the UK – and CAP was born.
Today, committed CAP staff and volunteers run 296 Debt Centres throughout the country – helping 2,575 people out of poverty in 2018 alone. With a vision to see 1,000 services up and running, CAP has the potential to help millions of individuals and families.
In addition to life changing Debt Centres, CAP’s 156 Job Clubs provide opportunities to gain application and CV writing skills, as well as interview preparation. Job Clubs offer a place of understanding, where job-seekers can see they’re not alone and support one another.
CAP will bring their #lookagain challenge to CF19’s marketplace, The Hangar – offering a fun, immersive experience to festival guests while highlighting the difficulties those in poverty face. The festival’s coffee area will also be run by the CAP team!
Pippa Britten, Campaign Manager at CAP said,
“Christians Against Poverty is delighted to be involved in Cedarwood Festival’s first year. We can’t wait to see all that God will do through this event and the impact it will have on local church in the North-East.
At CAP, we’re on a mission to set people free from the prison of debt and poverty. We work with local churches to meet the needs in their communities and demonstrate God’s heart for the poor. Every working day, ten people go debt free and three people respond to Jesus.
UK poverty is real – families are going without food, central heating and other essentials. Nevertheless, we resolutely believe that no matter how overwhelming poverty may seem, with Jesus there is always hope.”
Cedarwood Festival Co-Founder, David Stretton-Downes added:
“We are thrilled to welcome CAP as our bronze sponsor for Cedarwood Festival 2019!
The work that CAP are doing and have done for the last 20 years is invaluable to the transformation of society on a national scale. This work is being done by the dedication and selfless acts of members of the local church. We are so excited to have CAP commit to support the event in its inaugural year. ”
