Cedarwood Festival features in Yorkshire Air Ambulance Documentary
1st November, 2025

Cedarwood Festival was featured alongside the Yorkshire Air Ambulance amid Record-Breaking July Heatwave recently aired on the discovery channels Yorkshire Air 999 series.
During the hot summer of 2025 in the UK, The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called to Thorp Perrow, and the UK’s northern Christian festival, gathering the christians to worship Jesus in unity, Cedarwood Festival, due to a medical emergency.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) made a dramatic appearance at the Cedarwood Festival in July 2025, as the event coincided with one of the hottest heatwaves the UK has seen in recent years. The festival, known for its worship, community and great speakers, also became a stage for the YAA to raise awareness of its vital emergency services during what was a scorching summer weekend.

The YAA activities is the key feature documented on Yorkshire Air 999, a popular TV show airing on the Discovery+ network. The show, which documents the high-stakes, behind-the-scenes operations of emergency air rescue teams, followed the life-saving work of YAA personnel at the festival.
The hot weather posed significant challenges for both festival-goers and emergency services alike. With temperatures soaring past 30°C during the festival, the risk of heat-related health issues increased. The air ambulance team, which is no stranger to responding to emergencies in difficult conditions, arrived on-site to offer immediate assistance when called on.
Festival organisers said that the rapid response of the YAA added an important layer of security for both attendees and staff. “Given the extreme weather conditions, having the YAA arrive so rapidly gave us peace of mind. Their ability to respond quickly is invaluable, and their presence a reminder of just how critical their work is every single day,” said David Stretton-Downes, Director for Cedarwood Festival.
The land and air ambulance crew swiftly assessed the situation, administering emergency treatment, and transported the individual to a nearby hospital for further care.
Discovery+ Special: Yorkshire Air 999
The special featured episode, EP:5 (Heavy Impact) filmed at Cedarwood Festival showcased not only the heroic work of the YAA team but also the challenges faced during the blistering heatwave.
Owen Wright, Patient at CF25 said, ‘’The teams at Cedarwood Festival including the internal onsite team and the land and air ambulance teams were so professional and made me feel I was in secure hands before leaving to go to James Cook Hospital for further tests. I am now over the worst of that diagnosis and look forward to being at Cedarwood Festival 2026 in full health’’
The episode, which aired on Discovery+ on the evening following the festival, highlighted the critical role that air ambulances play in emergency care across the region. With an increasing number of medical incidents each year, especially in large public gatherings, YAA’s efforts were brought into sharp focus.
Elijah Wyatt, Cedarwood Festival medical team lead said, ”I was one of the medical team from Excel Medical Solutions who looked after Owen when he became unwell at the event. From the moment we reached him, it was clear he needed specialist care quickly, so we arranged for helicopter support to get him to hospital as safely and rapidly as possible. Owen was calm, incredibly brave, and an absolute pleasure to care for throughout. We’ve since been updated on his progress and are genuinely delighted to hear he’s making a good recovery. All of us who were with him that day send our very best wishes.”
